Jonathan Krohn Addresses CPAC - He’s 13 Folks!
What were you doing at age 13?
Rush Limbaugh at CPAC (Video x9)
He was supposed to speak for about 20 minutes, he ended up speaking for about an hour and a half, in his “first address to the nation,” to a crowd cheering and giving him one standing O after another. If you didn’t see it live, here is your chance. Don’t miss it.
Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
Rush: This notion that I want the President to fail, folks, this shows you a sign of the problem we’ve got. That’s nothing more than common sense and to not be able to say it, why in the world do I want what we just described, rampant government growth indebtedness, wealth that’s not even being created yet that is being spent, what is in this? What possibly is in this that anybody of us want to succeed? Did the Democrats want the war on Iraq to fail!
CROWD: Yes!
RUSH:They certainly did. They not only wanted the war in Iraq to fail, they proclaimed it a failure. There’s Dingy Harry Reid waiving a white flag: [Harry Reid impression] This war is lost. This war is — [Cheers and Applause] They called General Petraeus a liar before he even testified. Mrs. Clinton — [Crowd Booing] — said she had to, willingly suspend disbelief in order to listen to Petraeus. We’re in the process of winning the war. The last thing they wanted was to win. They hoped George Bush failed. So what is so strange about being honest to say that I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed? [Applause]
The full transcript is posted on Rush’s website.

Paul Harvey Reaches the End of the Story - R.I.P.
Paul Harvey is one of those fixtures of American life and American radio that you tend to think will be there forever. Unfortunately, even broadcasting icons must come to their end, but we have all lost a friend who has brought us much over the last 58 years of his show. May he go with God and rest in peace.
Broadcasting legend Paul Harvey has died at age 90.
ABC Radio Networks spokesman Louis Adams said Harvey died today in a Phoenix hospital, near his winter home, surrounded by family members.
ABC Radio Networks President Jim Robinson released the following statement:
“Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation’s history. As he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households.
“His career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his ‘News & Comment’ and ‘Rest of the Story’ features.
“Even after the passing of his loving wife Angel in May 2008, Paul would not slip quietly into retirement as he continued to take the microphone and reach out to his audience. We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family.”

Saturday Week End Roundup - From Shale Oil to Marijuana + More
Here are a few links that are left over from this past week that I never got to, in no particular order:
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - In giving the republican response to President Obama’s speech Tuesday night, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal pointed out fundamental differences in how republicans and democrats see the economy.
Wednesday morning on the CBS Early Show, Vice President Joe Biden asked, “But what I don’t understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do? In Louisiana, there’s 400 people a day losing their jobs. What’s he doing?”
But that claim is wrong if you look at the numbers from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“In December, Louisiana was the only state in the nation besides the District of Columbia, according to the national press release, that added employment over the month,” said Patty Granier with the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“The state gained 3,700 jobs for the seasonally adjusted employment,” Granier said of the most recent figures.
Those numbers are available on Louisiana’s employment website, laworks.net.
Also available on the site are the state’s latest unemployment statistics, statistics that appear to directly contradict what the vice president said Wednesday morning.
The latest statistics show from the week ending January 17th, there were 4,527 claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana. For the next week, that number dropped to 4,179. Economists credit a diverse economy for Louisiana’s resilience to unemployment.
It’s unclear where the vice president got his unemployment figures from.
Why are dems so against our country becoming energy independent?
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Institute for Energy Research (IER) president Thomas J. Pyle issued the following statement today after the Interior Department announced its plans to withdraw from consideration acreage in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming where research and development of a small portion of our nation’s homegrown oil shale reserves had previously been scheduled to take place:
NOTE: In a story posted Sunday by the Salt Lake (City, Utah) Tribune, reporter Thomas Burr quoted Secretary Salazar as saying to a group of western governors gathered in Washington that oil shale had “great potential.”“Earlier this week, Secretary Salazar suggested America’s massive and homegrown reserves of oil shale held ‘great potential.’ Unfortunately, the Interior Department’s decision today may help ensure that potential never becomes reality – in the process, locking-away an American energy resource larger than the total reserves of the entire Middle East.
“At a time of great economic uncertainty, with millions of Americans out of work and state budgets stretched beyond their breaking point, responsible development of America’s abundant shale resources could be a way out of our current condition, and a way back to a better one. The Interior Department’s announcement today effectively forecloses that opportunity.”
A few years ago, after I had extensive stomach surgery, I suffered from terrible nausea every day. I was also having a great deal of pain from a serious knee injury that required 3 separate surgeries and eventually required a knee replacement. At the time, all the pain meds and nausea meds made me even sicker. My doctor said, “you didn’t hear this from me, but you need to go buy yourself some pot and smoke a joint.” At that time, I lived in a state that took a hardline about marijuana. Subsequently, I moved back to California and I would have been eligible for a marijuana prescription, but with the Feds ignoring the state laws and raiding distribution locations and also coming after their patients, I have been too scared to put my name on some official list in order to get a prescription. I’m nor interested in growing my own, I just don’t want to be hassled or arrested for taking advantage of something my doctor recommended because of some outdated idea that pot should remain illegal. Pot is not a gateway drug and I have yet to hear about some abusive guy beating his wife or kids while smoking pot, whereas the jails and domestic violence safehouses are full of those who suffered at the hands of someone drunk on legally obtained alcohol. Pot smokers get mellow, drinkers get violent and/or really really stupid. Maybe there is hope yet.
Attorney General Eric Holder said at a press conference Wednesday that the Justice Department will no longer raid medical marijuana clubs that are established legally under state law. His declaration is a fulfillment of a campaign promise by President Barack Obama, and marks a major shift from the previous administration.
After the inauguration, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) continued to carry out such raids, despite Obama’s promise. Holder was asked if those raids represented American policy going forward.
“No,” he said. “What the president said during the campaign, you’ll be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we’ll be doing in law enforcement. He was my boss during the campaign. He is formally and technically and by law my boss now. What he said during the campaign is now American policy.”
The exchange takes place at about the 25:00 mark here.
Holder’s declaration is a high point for the movement to legalize medical marijuana, which has been growing for decades despite federal hostility.
“It’s good news for people in California who are so ill that they have gotten a doctor’s note in compliance with the law,” said Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) when told of Holder’s promise. “If you have a doctor’s note, you should be able to get whatever medicine you need.”
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) was not as quick with approval. “I’ve got to think about that a little bit,” she said. Feinstein was mayor of San Francisco when in the ‘70s and ‘80s when the issue was first being debated.
In 2007, for a book on drug culture and drug trends, This Is Your Country On Drugs, that will be released in June, I toured a number of the medical marijuana dispensaries in question and interviewed their owners and customers. This is what I found, excerpted from the book:

More debunking on the lies being fostered about Bobby Jindal:
Josh Marshall’s TPM blog accused Bobby Jindal of “lying” about the Katrina story he spoke about the other night during his speech.
[...]
Of course neither TPM or that rock of news worthiness Daily Kos took time to really do their homework. Turns out it did happen, yet just not apparently when nutroots like TPM and Kos consider the “time of the storm”.
The first time I heard about these eCigs is when I read the following article. It is too bad that there are questions about their safety since they seem to be a nifty new alternative for those wishing to get off real tobacco cigarettes. Hint: that isn’t smoke. They are smokeless.
AP - Feb. 17: Miao Nan, executive director of Ruyan Group Ltd., puffs an e-smoke while he shows other design during an interview at his office in Beijing.BEIJING — With its slim white body and glowing amber tip, it can easily pass as a regular cigarette. It even emits what look like curlicues of white smoke.
The Ruyan V8, which produces a nicotine-infused mist absorbed directly into the lungs, is just one of a rapidly growing array of electronic cigarettes attracting attention in China, the U.S. and elsewhere — and the scrutiny of world health officials.
Marketed as a healthier alternative to smoking and a potential way to kick the habit, the smokeless smokes have been distributed in swag bags at the British film awards and hawked at an international trade show.
Because no burning is involved, makers say there’s no hazardous cocktail of cancer-causing chemicals and gases like those produced by a regular cigarette. There’s no secondhand smoke, so they can be used in places where cigarettes are banned, the makers say.
Health authorities are questioning those claims.
The World Health Organization issued a statement in September warning there was no evidence to back up contentions that e-cigarettes are a safe substitute for smoking or a way to help smokers quit.

[UPDATE: Since I’ve added so many more links since this was first posted yesterday morning, I decided to bump it up.]
I was on my way to the San Diego Tea Party and never made it to the event. Instead, I ended up at the DMV, for hours, because somehow the renewal sticker, which was new last month, was missing from my license plate and I had to get a replacement. I got off without a ticket since i did have my current registration to show, but was warned to take care of the problem immediately or risk getting pulled over again.
The reports I’ve had so far say that the national tea party event was a success with from 400 to well over a 1000 showing up at various venues around the country. Considering this entire event was thrown together in less than a week and no one had paid organizers, like the dems use, and the fact that the weather was lousy thruout the country, it is amazing the number of people willing to show their support and stand in rain and freezing temperatures, even brave a tornado in one location.

Diana Irey as Challenger for Specter? Where Do I Sign Up?
Many of you will remember Diana Irey from her 2006 run against senile Mad Jack Murtha for the PA-12th. She raised a ton of money online, but unfortunately, she had far more support nationally than votes in her own District due to PA-12th voters unwilling to move away from the Murtha trough. She is a dynamic woman and one with a bright future, should she choose to take on this challenge.
Several Republican conservative fundraisers have approached Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey to ask her to consider a primary run against Sen. Arlen Specter.
Sources confirm they have offered to help her raise money.
One strategist said of the close-door meeting the conservative group was particularly impressed that when Irey went up against Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Johnstown, in the 2006 midterm primaries, she was able to raise between $300 to $400K online.
If you are interested in any of our old posts on Diana Irey, you’ll need to search the Squiggler archives linked in the sidebar.

13% of Americans are Morons, the Other 73% ...
According to Rasmussen today:
When it comes to important national issues, 73% of adults nationwide trust the judgment of the American people more than that of America’s political leaders.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 13% place more trust in the judgment of the politicians.
Twenty percent (20%) of Democrats trust America’s political leaders more than the American people, the highest level of support for the politicians found among any measured demographic group. But 63% of Democrats trust the general public more.
Among Republicans, 83% trust people more than politicians as do 76% of those not affiliated with either major party.

1.5 Million Year Old Footprints Found
More cool finds.

Matthew Bennett/Bournemouth University - A photograph of a 1.5 million-year-old footprint’s ball and toes.
Early humans had feet like ours and left lasting impressions in the form of 1.5 million-year-old footprints, some of which were made by feet that could wear a size 9 men’s shoe.
The findings at a Northern Kenya site represent the oldest evidence of modern-human foot anatomy. They also help tell an ancestral story of humans who had fully transitioned from tree-dwellers to land walkers.
[...]
Almost human
Harris and other colleagues report in the Feb. 27 issue of the journal Science on finding several footprint trails within two sedimentary rock layers.
An upper sedimentary layer included two trails of two prints each, one group of seven prints, and a variety of isolated prints. The lower layer had a trail of two prints and a single isolated print likely from a smaller, juvenile human.
The researchers identified the footprints as probably belonging to a member of Homo ergaster, an early form of Homo erectus. Such prints include modern foot features such as a rounded heel, a human-like arch and a big toe that sits parallel to other toes.
By contrast, apes have more curved fingers and toes made for grasping tree branches. The earliest human ancestors, such as Australopithecus afarensis, still possessed many ape-like features more than 2 million years ago — the well-known “Lucy” specimen represents one such example.
Make me a match
These latest footprints at Ileret, Kenya, appear intriguingly close by to another early human site. Researchers in 1984 found a nearly complete Homo erectus skeleton, dubbed the “Turkana Boy” specimen, just across the waters of Lake Turkana.
Turkana Boy’s delicate foot bones were not well preserved. But the new footprints could represent the shoe that fits the wearer, so to speak.
“Many people have predicted this, but now we have the solid evidence for modern foot anatomy,” Harris told LiveScience. “It’s like a giant jigsaw puzzle, and those footprints complement the skeleton from the other end of the lake.”

If You Had It, Would You Pay $28,000,000 for This Chair?
Obviously there is no recession in the “art” business. Love the way LA Around Town describes the sale:
This is either proof that the art collectors are still spending, or that they have lost their minds. Maybe both. The piece in question is a chair—resembling a turd with tusks—that gaveled yesterday at Christie’s Paris auction for an eye-popping (pooping?) $28.3 million. The leather and wood chair that swaddled the ass of Yves Saint Laurent was among the items fetching $484 million, almost $60 million more than the estimated total sales of the “Auction of the Century,” which critics said would determine the future of all art auctions.
How to Make a Choco Taco
When I saw this highlighted at Presurfer this morning, my mouth started watering. How did I miss that these have been available at Taco Bell?

Here is the recipe. Please follow the link to see the step-by-step procedure in pictures. There are several steps, but nothing that looks too hard to do at home successfully.
Choco Tacos can be hard to track down. The preeminent dessert taco makes cameos at select ice cream trucks and gas stations, but other times, you think, “did I dream that?” Since nobody should have to suppress a Choco Taco craving, or embark on a roadtrip to the magical Taco Bells that still stock them, follow these steps to make them at home.

$27,599—What the media won’t tell you:

- 2nd U.S. soldier in Iraq challenges eligibility Says issue could decide if ‘we are a Constitutional Republic’
Another U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq is joining a challenge to President Obama’s eligibility to be commander-in-chief, citing WND’s report on 1st Lt. Scott Easterling, who has agreed to be a plaintiff in a lawsuit over the issue, as his inspiration.
“I was inspired by 1LT Easterling’s story and am writing you to inform you that I would like to be added as a plaintiff against Obama as well if you feel it would help your case,” said the soldier, identified for this report only as a reservist now on active duty in Iraq.
His letter was directed to California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her DefendOurFreedom.us Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama’s birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.
Things that make me roll my eyes and say, “Enough already!”
- House Approves Another $410 Billion in Spending With 9,000 Earmarks—$1.2 Trillion in 12 Days
The House just approved another $410 billion in spending with 9,000 earmarks after approving the $789 billion Generational Theft Act just 12 days ago.
The House has approved $1.2 trillion in spending in 12 days.
The vote was mainly among party lines:
More on the same subject:
GOP House members call this “the cherry on top of the stimulus sundae.”
Now, I’m proud that we passed a recovery plan free of earmarks and I want to pass a budget next year that ensures that each dollar we spend reflects only our most important national priorities. –President Obama, Tuesday, February 24, 2009
One day later The House of Representatives passed an omnibus spending bill (PDF here, roll call here) that completes the appropriation process for fiscal year 2009. In it there were 9000 earmarks for special projects, the vast majority of which were inserted by Democrats. Conveniently, Obama omitted this spending bill from his earmark free declaration.
Things that make me say “I told you so!” Funny how the more the Obama Administration see problems from the inside, the more they see that President Bush knew what he was doing.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday the Guantanamo detention center is a well-run, professional facility that will be difficult to close — but he is still going to do it.
Holder visited the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on Monday and spoke to reporters about his trip during a news conference Wednesday.
Closing Guantanamo, he said, “will not be an easy process. It’s one we will do in a way that ensures that people are treated fairly and that the American people are kept safe.”
Get used to it, the O-man is adept at never taking any responsibility. We saw it over and over in the campaign where he would make some dumb statement and then have to clarify it, usually be blaming some staff underling. Now, he justifies his lies by blaming George Bush because he knows that no matter how terrible one of his policies might be, all he has to do is blame Bush and the left will be on board.
Obama will announce a record deficit today.
In one month Democrats have already nearly tripled the national deficit and could quadruple the deficit this year.
The deficit they have racked up represents 12.3 percent of the U.S. economy—its largest share since World War II and more than double the total from last year.
Praise for Holder on Gitmo, not so much on gun control:
Sadly, competence is not a requirement for the position of Attorney General, as Obama Attorney General Eric Holder proved beyond the shadow of a doubt:
“I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller,” Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual’s right to own a weapon.
That someone can be so uninformed and hold the position he does boggles the mind.
The “gun show loophole” is myth. It simply doesn’t exist.
According to ignorant people—and sadly, this includes our neophyte President and AG Holder—people can walk into a gun show and face an entirely different set of rules than they would elsewhere.
This is a bald-faced lie.
Ace weighs in on the same subject:
Latest bumper sticker, do you want one? Wouldn’t displaying this sticker be an admission you are one of the deadbeats expecting someone else to take care of you?
I had to add this from AJ Strata today. I agree with him 100% and I’ve blamed these “purists” for the losses of 2006 and 2008. They just don’t get how out of touch they are with the nation at large. They are the ones who trashed Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. Oh you say, no, that came from the left. Uh uh. Look who the left touts as the voice of conservatives, some of the biggest critics of these two popular figures, Kathleen Parker and David Brooks.
The old (and tiresome) guard of conservatism is apoplectic that there boy Bobby flamed out so badly with his response to President Obama’s report to Congress Tuesday:
[...]
Style or substance? What about substance no one likes anymore, ever think about that? What’s wrong with both style and substance like we have in Sarah Palin? The right is wandering in the wilderness because America looked at what they had to offer and sent them there. And while I have no issues with Rush, I find the rest of the saber rattling conservatives ‘in exile’ tiresome - and I am not upset at all they are in exile. As far as I and a lot of America is concerned, they are were they belong right now.
The pure right has been raging against all the impure (a.k.a., RINOs, Quislings, Moderates, Centrists) for so long they have pretty much repulsed most of America. Which is why we HAVE a President Obama and a liberal Congress trashing up the country. They created their mess and people are fed up with them. They don’t talk or debate, they rant and rave. Rush may be whining about style, but a lot of conservatives were whining about rage and passion. Neither of which is substance either!
When the self anointed ones on the right went after George Bush and his Supreme Court selection (Harriet Miers) for not being a pureblood, they made a huge mistake. One which began their exodus to the political minority they are now. They did not disagree on views or policies (heck, We The People never got a chance to here Miers’ views), they went after her personally and brutally. It was grotesque.
These purists of passion focused their inquisition on the Gang of 14, which had the audacity to avoid a useless and unproductive constitutional showdown on Presidential judicial nominees. President Bush seated a lot of constructionist judges during his tenure thanks to the compromises made by the Gang of 14 - but to this day these good people are pilloried by the small minded purists on the right.
And pillorying good Americans is all the substance the purists in exile have. They raged against an Arab ally buying a company that loads and unloads ships - an ally that provides a secure port for all our naval operations in the Middle East. They raged against all immigrants as if they were ax murderers and rapists. And they raged against any conservative who dared disagree with their dogma. They claim the far left is neo-fascists and yet want to dictate their ways on the rest, and do so with anger, … sorry - passion.

New Anti-Israel Spy Chief Appointed by Obama
If there was any doubt left that Obama has little love for Israel, this latest appoint of Charles Freeman to head the National Intelligence Council, producers of the much relied upon National Intelligence Estimates, will end that doubt. Freeman is a raging anti-Israel guy; a lobbyist (yeah one of those who was not going to be hired in this Administration) for the Arab world.
Ben Smith has confirmed that Chas Freeman has been offered and accepted President Obama’s invitation to be the Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, the intelligence community’s primary big-think shop and the lead U.S. governmental body in producing national intelligence estimates.
For the last dozen years, Freeman, the former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has been President of the Middle East Policy Council (formally known as the American Arab Affairs Council) a lobbying group for the Arab world. One of the group’s primary functions is to publish a quarterly journal called Middle East Policy. The journal is filled with anti-Israel messages that are beyond even the broadest definition of mainstream of U.S. thinking on the region. As the President of the organization responsible for this vicious and biased journal, the appointment of Freeman as a gatekeeper for U.S. intelligence is a very disturbing matter.
The Chairman of the National Intelligence Council is just like the editor of a journal. He must review, edit, add context to, and decide what to present to the President in terms of good intelligence. Therefore it is reasonable to predict Freeman’s handling of the NIC job by looking at his work as President of MPEC and the journal that is published under his authority, Middle East Policy.
As you are about to see, the vicious and distorted polemics that have passed through his editorial desk prove that Freeman is not qualified to be the “editor” of America’s intelligence.

Rasmussen: Popularity of Stimulus Plan Drops
The more “We the People” learn about the stimulus plan, the less we like it.
Confidence in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan has fallen four points in the week since President Obama signed it into law, and more voters are prepared to punish their representatives for supporting it.
Thirty-four percent (34%) of U.S. voters now say the plan will help the economy, while 32% believe it will hurt, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
Twenty-six percent (26%) say the plan will have little impact on the economy. Eight percent (8%) are undecided.
A week ago, 38% of voters said the plan will help the economy, while 29% said it will hurt.
Fox Beats CNN & MSNBC Combined…Again!
The ratings are out:
Fox News was the ratings leader during prime time and total day during February 2009 — its 86th month on top. FNC averaged more Total Viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and total day.
FNC had nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news last month in Total Viewers. The O’Reilly Factor was #1 for the 99th consecutive month, and was up 33% in Total Viewers compared to February 2008. The other top programs included Hannity (up 38%), Glenn Beck (the 5pmET hour was up 100%), The FOX Report with Shepard Smith (up 30%) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (up 24%).
FNC’s third newly launched show, “Special Report with Bret Baier,” was up 38% in Total Viewers and the demo compared to last year. Baier’s new program, Beck’s and Sean Hannity’s solo hour at 9pmET beat CNN and MSNBC combined in Total Viewers during their respective time periods.

Ms. Underestimated: I Want A Divorce - An Open Letter
I’m not even going to try and give you an excerpt of the letter. You have to read it in its entirety. Hint: It all sounds good to me.
UPDATE:
I have to add this 2nd letter written by Leo J. Pusateri, Jr., one of the authors writing over at Murtha Must Go. It is more of a rant than a letter. It makes you want to quip, “tell us how you really feel, Leo,” but anyone who has checked in on the Murtha Must Go blog in the last 4 plus years knows that there is no one who holds Murtha in greater contempt than they do. The anger and frustration we’ve all felt that this jackass is still in office expodes off the page of Leo’s letter. It isn’t Murtha, however, that is the focus of the wrath this time. Instead it is the impotent Pennsylvania GOP, who solicited funds from the wrong person. He literally yells at the reader, “What is your MAJOR MALFUNCTION, PA-GOP?!?!” We’d all like to know the answer to that, but I seriously doubt we’ll get one.
Server Will Be Down for Maintenace Tonight
We have been informed by Blue Host that the server that this blog runs on will be down for maintenance for approximately 1 to 2 hours on Tuesday night beginning at 10 PM PST.
Blue Host says: This upgrade will greatly increase performance.
Overnight & Morning Roundup (Videos)
Real life has interfered once more so I’m catching up with another roundup.
Here we go!
Is this our future? Link includes excerpts from two WSJ articles by Matthew Kaminski and Pete Du Pont.
As noted before, “we all know how easy it is to roll-back the waste of government bureaucracy once new budgets are set, this is a glimpse of the future. The debt that will be carried on by our children.”
The writing is on the wall. Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer, Citizens of America, it’s time for revolt. Let your voices be heard.
Aaaah, poor poor Chrissy. His love object’s feet of clay are beginning to weigh him down.
Although the stock market had a rebound today, up 236 pt. from when this was posted yesterday, this is Steyn, and he is always worth a read. And the only change today was the statement by Bernanke that the recession would end by 2009 and bank nationalization isn’t necessary (duh!) and Kramer on CNBC says to enjoy the uptick that will last a couple of days and then Sell! Sell! Sell!:

The Dow hit a ten-year low today, but don’t worry, there’ll be a new low along in a day or two.

If the United States government got out of the way, things might get worse before they get better. With the government in the way, we have only the certainty of worse.
Things that make you go grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
We’re still fighting a war against radical Islamic terrorism, and it already appears that our inept President has forgotten which side he’s supposed to be on.
And on the same subject:
Various la-la land conservatives and moderates assured us that Obama, despite a career spent in the Left’s fever swamps, is really a “pragmatist” who would govern from the center. They pooh-poohed us knuckle-draggers who doggedly pointed to his radical intimates, like Hamas-apologist Rashid Khalidi. I wonder what they’re thinking today as Obama takes time out from destroying the economy to send $900M from the mint’s busy printing press to Hamas.
We might not like his message, but at least he is telling the truth, rather surprising coming from a Democrat.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is not worried about paying off the trillion dollar Generational Theft Act…
Missouri kids and grandkids will just have to pay it off:

Obama Sets Loose Gitmo Terrorist!
Here’s what Military Families United had to say about this outrage:
Cheney, doing what he does best, telling it like it is:
Politico’s interview with former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Things that make you laugh:
CNBC’s Joe Kernen had some fun at the New York Times’ expense Monday morning, so much so that whether you love Rick Santelli’s Rant Heard ‘Round The World, or just can’t stand the Grey Lady, you’re guaranteed to bust a gut.
Main Street may be suffering from financial woes, but Washington, DC has become a boom town.
I wrote a column last month about how Washington, D.C. is not only largely escaping the recession, the D.C. metro area has become the wealthiest region in the country—a troubling development, given that the largest employer and chief industry here is government.
[...]
The cost of course goes beyond the price tag of the bailout. All of the money spent lobbying for a cut of the largess is also money sent to Washington that could have been spent actually creating wealth.
Sent in by a reader. I was going to make it the Laugh of the Day until I came back to my senses and thought how what is happening with the bailouts is not a laughing matter.

On on a tip from Larwyn, a new lexicon for the Obama era. Enjoy and learn.
Ah, a new President and a new vocabulary comes into play. For those of you not catching on to the Newspeak I’ll do a bit of quick translation between the new word or phrase and its older meaning. It really is quite simple, once you listen for a bit! So, without further preface lets dive right in:
Looks like it isn’t just Tweety who is losing that loving feeling and it is going to get worse as the media stops propping up their “chosen one.” People are beginning to wake up and realize they’ve been had.
The drop below 60% approval within the past week—from 63% in Feb. 18-20 polling to 59% in Feb. 21-23 polling—has mostly come among independents. Late last week, 62% of independents approved of Obama, compared with 54% in the last three days.

Action Alerts: Things that Go Bump in the Night (Video x4)
This stuff really makes me nervous! Based upon what the NSA and FEMA are doing now i can’t take this stuff lightly; if the US economy tanks there will be extreme civil unrest and the potential viability of the stuff being presented in these video. Now I’m not predicting anything, but it looks like certain contingencies are already in place…the founding father’s warned us of this stuff.
ACTION ALERT - STOP FEMA CAMP and GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION NOW
POLICE STATE 2009?
URGENT!!! FEMA CAMPS NEW FUNDING 2009-2010 (HR 645)
I don’t understand the Jesus reference but some of it clarified parts of the other. ... This stuff is on my mind these days and the type of attitude that really gets me going (big government, central planning, restricting arms rights, lack of individual liberty), some of which is or was constitutionally illegal. There is just too much of this type of covert, militaristic stuff going on that, if in fact some faction ??? decided that if was time for a full on central planning type of government, could accommodate any resistance. These new agencies FEMA, the NSA and ??? what ever other covert agencies have agenda’s now that basically contradict the notion of personal freedom they were created to protect! Imagine if there was a collapse of our banking system and economy and there was violent civil unrest which is certainly a possibility in light of how bad thing are these days. Who or what entities would be in control? Certainly not local government or the National Guards when there are US Military forces strategically placed throughout the country…the answer is federal government and central planning. This stuff is just food for thought!

Oscar Roundup
I’ll make this short and sweet.
Sean Penn won for “Milk” and talked about homos and commies. Yada Yada Yada
Slumdog Millionaire won for Best Picture and Best Song, which was awful and reminded me of the opening of the China Olympics.
Kate Winslet won in an ugly grey dress only surpassed by the ugly dress Reese Witherspoon was wearing as a presenter.
Sophia Loren is still beautiful as ever.
Mickey Roarke looked like he hadn’t washed his hair in a year and what’s with that ugly silver tooth cap?
Angelina Jolie needs to lay off the lip collagen, they are looking grotesque.
Queen Latifa and Hugh Jackman were the two bright lights. The rest of the production sucked.
Ben Stiller did perfect Joaquin Phoenix imitation that was funny, if you saw Phoenix on Letterman, otherwise you wouldn’t know what it was all about.
There that’s about it.
